Welcome to The Go Guru. I’m Mary Contreras. I’m a wife, mother, daughter, friend, and student who loves to travel, shop and EAT. You can describe me as generous, adventurous, and impulsive.
My “real job” is as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) or Administrative Assistant. I would leave it all to become a full-time mermaid, but come on let’s be real. My husband is an active duty soldier for the United States Army, which puts us on the road or in the air frequently. We have a daughter, Olivia, who just recently joined us on our adventure.
Here at The Go Guru, my mission is to provide you with stories, products, and reviews of new places or items my family and I encounter. I’m here to make you rich..in knowledge, people.
As a family of 3 who can’t seem to stay indoors for longer than 12 hours, we are always on the GO. This means preparation, exploration, and some crazy (CRAZY) experiences.
My Official Story
I was born and raised in Austin, Texas. I have a large family. Maybe too many to count–yeah. My mother was born in Honduras, small country in Central America. She had my 4 sisters and I and in the year 2010 she took me on my first trip to Honduras. This is where the adventure began. I was so excited as I got my passport and as I started to pack my own suitcase. That was only the beginning. Then, we got there, I felt like I was on a different planet. We become so sheltered in our own small town that we sometimes forget that there are more problems than the local Dollar General closing early. There are health crisis’ everywhere. This inspired my studies. So I got back, graduated from high school. That’s where I met my wonderful husband Christian. I was the dance team captain and he was a cheerleader, ha. We got married a little over 6 months after graduation. He was already enlisted in the United States Army. We explored most of the Western United States. 2 years later we had our daughter, Olivia. I enrolled into college, again for my general studies. We are located in the PNW where we La-La-Love it! This brings me to now. I am blogging part-time, temping, assisting with random projects, and just going with the flow. It’s okay not to have everything figured out. Life is unpredictable and you can only try your best.
There’s more beyond this short story that I am so eager to share! Thanks for joining me and checking in. There’s always more to come!
